FY22 Community Needs Assessment Survey

FY22 Parent Needs Assessment Survey

Welcome to Upson-Lee Primary

Upson-Lee Primary School teachers and staff members work very hard to meet the needs of all students and to ensure they achieve at their highest potential.

We offer an exceptional environment for learning where the youngest of students are encouraged to question, research, imagine, analyze, and discover. Our dedicated and skilled educators create excitement for core curriculum subjects as well as engage students in activities that teach respect for diversity, develop young leadership potential, and foster community and social responsibility.

Upson-Lee Primary School serves students in grades K-2 in a grade-center environment. The school features a fully-automated media center, computer and keyboarding labs, and an in-school television studio where students and staff produce daily news programs that are accessible to classrooms throughout the day via video streaming. All students receive instruction in computers, art, music, and physical education (better known as CAMP) in addition to core subjects. A Challenge program is available for gifted learners in grades 1 and 2.

ULSE is an innovator in utilizing technology to increase student engagement and learning. It was the first school in the U.S. to install Promethean’s ACTIVboard Collaborative Classroom systems in every classroom. In 2017, the school completed a 1:1 computing initiative, providing students with frequent, integral use of technology across the curriculum. Upson-Lee South is accredited by AdvancEd (SACS/CASI) and is Accredited with Quality by the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

Updated COVID-19 Information

COVID Procedures

At the Tuesday, September 28, TU Board of Education work session, the Board unanimously approved the continuation of the mask mandate within all Thomaston-Upson schools. This decision was made after reviewing data of positive cases among students and staff since the implementation of the mask mandate on August 25, which shows a significant downward trend of positive cases since the mask mandate was put in place. The Board will meet on Thursday, October 28, to review the most current data and re-evaluate the mask mandate. The BOE will continue to review the data and the mask mandate on a monthly basis. Student and staff data is updated daily on the Thomaston-Upson School System website at https://www.upson.k12.ga.us/202122.
